We are looking for all ages – youth and adults – to come together and help create a theatre show about the Karen people and their journey from Myanmar to Australia.
Together we will recreate a Karen village, fill it with life and everyday events – people working, building a house, children playing, going to school. We will also build large glowing puppets of dogs, chicken, ducks, and even a buffalo to wander among them. We will see two young people – also puppets – fall in love, and follow them through the events to come. In the background, projections, film, and music will help bring the village to life.
You’ll be working with Christinedah Gaw, Hser Wah Po Kyaut, Nan Da San, Aussie Say, and David Franzke, John Bolton, Mary French, Dave Jones, Nancy Black.
No experience is needed. Just bring yourself, your ideas, and maybe a friend. The show will be funny, sad, sometimes surprising – and unforgettable.
Workshops and rehearsals will begin late September, in Nhill and Horsham. After school and on Saturdays.
