Duda Paiva is the artistic director of DudaPaiva Company, based in the Netherlands. Since 2004, the company has represented The Netherlands in International Festivals within 5 continents, and spread its idiom with performances, international collaborations, master-classes and workshops. Duda’s technique is called “Diving the Beats”. It enables both dancers and actors to explore the dialogue between performer and its double (the object/puppet) by creating a dance duet for one mind only. His works include Angel (12 international awards), Morning Star (5 awards), Hamlet Cannot Sleep, Fasada (3 prizes), Maldediction (4 prizes), Bastard!, Love Dolls, Detox the Dummy, Screaming Object, Holy, Manbeast/Bestiaires and a web/love interactive project called Porshia.. His work has taken him from Brazil to the Netherlands, across Europe, to Russia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Estonia, Poland and Norway.
Black Hole and the Duda Paiva Company are collaborating on a bold, new cross art form work (tentatively) called upLIFTdown which will premiere at the World Puppetry Festival in Charleville-Mézières, France, in 2015. It explores the rage and frustration of a man who feels morally alienated from contemporary society. Expect puppetry, dance, live music, video, and text. We’re developing and rehearsing on two continents – never a dull moment!
